Emmanuel Lutheran School
Tempe, Arizona
About
Emmanuel Lutheran School exists to reflect the light of Jesus in the community and in cooperation with families, to equip children with the power of God’s Word and academic excellence. Emmanuel’s objective is to work together with parents to help their children grow intellectually, physically, spiritually, and socially. Emmanuel does this on a safe and secure campus with highly qualified and well-trained teachers and staff. Emmanuel Lutheran School offers an educational program from Kindergarten through Grade 8. Emmanuel’s Sonshine Preschool is open to all three- and four-year-old children. Sonshine Preschool offers two-, three-, and five-day options with either a half- and full-day schedule. In addition, Emmanuel offers both before and after care programs for all enrolled children. As a Lutheran school, our students begin each day with instruction in God’s Word. This includes devotions, Bible history, hymn study, and memorization of Scripture. Students also receive instruction in language arts, math, science, social studies, music, physical education, art, and technology. Emmanuel has the privilege of teaching all of these subject areas in the light of God’s Word. Throughout the school day, students have the opportunity to take piano, guitar, ukulele, and instrumental lessons, and upper grade students have the option to participate in band, choir, and tone chimes. Emmanuel also offers a variety of extracurricular activities. Emmanuel fields athletic teams in flag football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, cross country, and track and field. A Grade 1-4 drama club presents a fall musical, while the Grade 5-8 drama club presents a spring musical. Both a Chess club and a newly started Afterschool STEM Lab are additional optional afterschool activities. A variety of events and activities are hosted during the school year. This includes our Fall Family Grill Out, Harvest Festival, Veterans’ Day Program, Grandparents Day, Academic Fair, Easter Family Festival, and a Fish Fry. Emmanuel’s goal is to encourage Christ, Connection, and Caring among our students, faculty, staff, families, church members, and community.
