About
MRS. ABEEBE’S CULTURE ACADEMY™ — Exploring the World, Connecting with People Welcome to Mrs. Abeebe’s Culture Academy™, where global cultures come alive through joyful, hands-on, in-depth learning! We serve homeschooling families seeking engaging experiences that inspire curiosity, encourage friendships, and help children appreciate their own identities while honoring others. Food, fashion, storytelling, history, art, and discovery become doorways to understanding our world. My Story I am Yemisi Agbebi, affectionately known as Mrs. Abeebe a children’s book author, educator, educational consultant, and founder of DesertRose Consultants LLC. My journey from Nigeria to teaching and serving communities in the American Southwest has shaped my love for connecting people through education. With more than two decades of experience, including work with Navajo and Hopi communities, I bring a personal appreciation for how culture, identity, belonging, and learning intersect. I created Culture Academy to give children opportunities to recognize the beauty in their own stories and discover meaningful connections with people around the world. My Mission and Philosophy My mission is to inspire children to love learning, value people, and explore the world with curiosity and kindness. I believe children learn deeply when they can touch, taste, create, question, discuss, and participate. Their interests and experiences matter, and learning should help them feel seen while expanding their understanding of others. We explore cultural traditions alongside contemporary life, recognizing that no single story represents everyone in a community. A Typical Week and Subjects We Explore A themed week might take us on a learning adventure through a country, region, or cultural community. We begin with maps, stories, questions, and an introduction to the people and places we will explore. Children might practice greetings, investigate historical events, discover clothing and textiles, create artwork, and prepare or taste a featured food. Collaborative projects and time to share discoveries help bring the learning together. Our interdisciplinary approach connects geography, social studies, history, reading, writing, language exploration, music, and the arts with STEM/STEAM. A food activity can introduce measurement and food science; a study of homes can inspire an engineering challenge; and fashion can open conversations about climate, materials, identity, and design. My children’s books and creative learning resources add opportunities for storytelling, reflection, and imaginative discovery. Faith in Practice I follow Jesus, and my faith guides how I teach, serve, and build relationships. I seek to put that faith into practice through kindness, patience, honesty, gratitude, and love for our neighbors. These values shape a learning environment where children are encouraged to treat others with dignity, listen respectfully, and recognize the worth of every person. Community and the Family Experience Culture Academy is a place to learn together and build connections. I value parents as partners and welcome opportunities for children to share their family stories, celebrate discoveries, and develop friendships through shared activities. What I offer families is a warm, personal approach, creative teaching, and enthusiasm for helping children connect with learning. Whether a child is drawn to cooking, fashion, science, history, art, or books, I use those interests as starting points for deeper exploration. My goal is for children to leave excited to share what they have learned and eager to discover more. Explore, learn, and connect with Mrs. Abeebe’s Culture Academy™!
