Which Christian Curriculum Is ESA Approved in Arizona? (2026)

Arizona does not publish an ESA-approved Christian curriculum list, but these major publishers are routinely reimbursed: Abeka, BJU Press, Apologia, Sonlight, Master Books, and more.

7 min read · Updated

There is no official ESA-approved list of Christian curriculums in Arizona. The good news: most major Christian academic publishers are routinely reimbursable because the state evaluates the educational purpose of the purchase, not the publisher's religious convictions.

This guide lists the Christian curricula Arizona families most commonly use with ESA funds, along with how each is typically billed.

Christian Curricula Commonly Reimbursed by ESA

Abeka

Abeka is one of the largest Christian curriculum publishers. Academic courses in math, science, language, and history are generally ESA-eligible. Bible-specific courses may need reimbursement review or private funds.

BJU Press (Bob Jones)

BJU Press academic courses are widely used with ESA. The distance-learning video option and textbook packages both typically qualify.

Apologia

Apologia is a registered ClassWallet vendor and one of the most commonly reimbursed Christian science curricula in Arizona.

Sonlight

Sonlight academic cores are generally reimbursable. Bible packages are often excluded or paid privately.

Master Books

Master Books science, history, and math titles are typically ESA-eligible. Bible-specific titles are usually parent-funded.

The Good and the Beautiful

The Good and the Beautiful math, language arts, handwriting, and science units are typically reimbursable. Bible and history courses that integrate scripture may need review.

Notgrass History

Notgrass History includes history, literature, and Bible in one package. The history and literature portions are generally ESA-eligible; the Bible companion may need to be separated.

Memoria Press and Veritas Press

Memoria Press and Veritas Press Latin, math, literature, and grammar titles bill cleanly. Christian Studies and Bible titles may need review.

What Is Not Automatically Approved

  • Standalone Bible or theology courses
  • Devotionals and catechisms
  • Worship materials
  • Religious music or art instruction that is not part of an academic course
