Elementary Writing Tutor
Helping Students Become Confident Readers and Writers I'm Kristi Wolch, M.Ed., founder of Elementary Writing Tutor. I provide one-on-one online reading and writing tutoring for students in grades 4–8, with a special focus on neurodiverse learners, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia traits, executive functioning challenges, and reluctant writers. I also support homeschool families who want extra guidance teaching reading and writing at home. Every child learns differently, so every lesson is personalized. Before instruction begins, I assess each student's strengths and areas of need, then create an individualized plan that builds skills step by step. Sessions combine explicit instruction, engaging activities, and plenty of encouragement so students gain both academic skills and confidence. Whether we're strengthening reading comprehension, improving sentence writing, organizing essays, building vocabulary, or mastering grammar, each lesson is designed to support student growth. My background includes more than 10 years as a special education classroom teacher, followed by over a decade of private tutoring. I also hold a master’s degree in special education from the University of Washington. Since 2015, I've worked with students both online and in person, helping children who struggle with reading and writing become more independent learners. I love finding creative ways to make challenging concepts manageable, especially for students who have begun to believe they "just aren't good at writing or reading." Families often tell me that their children not only improve academically but also become more willing to write, participate in reading activities, and tackle assignments independently. My goal is to help students develop the confidence, communication skills, and learning strategies that will serve them for years to come. I believe parents are valuable partners in the learning process, and I work hard to make sure they understand their child's progress and know how to support learning between sessions. My Christian faith is an important part of who I am and guides the way I serve others with kindness, integrity, and compassion. While faith is not the focus of tutoring, I am comfortable teaching with Christian curriculum and publishers when families request them. I always respect each family's preferences and follow their lead regarding faith-based discussions during lessons. Thrive offers four personalized learning options: Minimum – $4,000/year Designed for motivated learners who thrive with independence. Students complete coursework at their own pace while families provide daily oversight and support. This option includes curriculum access and academic structure without live teacher support. Students are also able to attend clubs and chapel. Families may pay $3,000 when paying in full or $1,000 quarterly. Guided – $6,000/year Designed for students who enjoy independent learning but benefit from additional accountability and guidance. Students receive 2 hours of live teacher support each week to track progress, answer questions, and provide encouragement. This package also includes chapel and access to two student clubs, helping students build relationships and stay connected with their peers. Families may pay $4,500 when paying in full or $1,500 quarterly. Advanced – $8,000/year Designed for students who need more direct instruction and personalized academic assistance. Students receive 4 hours of live teacher support each week where teachers work through challenging concepts, provide homework help, and help students stay on track. This package also includes chapel and two student clubs. Families may pay $6,000 when paying in full or $2,000 quarterly. Elite – $10,000/year Designed for students who benefit from the highest level of individualized instruction and structured support. Students receive 6 hours of live teacher support each week with minimal homework outside of instruction time. This package also includes chapel and two student clubs, allowing students to receive strong academic support while developing friendships and community. Families may pay $7,500 when paying in full or $2,500 quarterly. At Thrive Online Academy, students experience more than academics—they become part of a supportive Christian community. Get Your Struggle Reader Back on Track! I'm a reading and spelling interventionist for ages K-12 struggling with dyslexia and other reading challenges. Sessions are one-hour, twice a week. I use the Barton System which is an Orton-Gillingham-based multisensory method. My other ministry is doing evangelism and discipleship training for children and adults which I do not charge for. My tutoring helps support me for this ministry.
