PURPOSE Communication & Social Skills Parent-Child Coaching

Parent-centered coaching that teaches you strategies to support your child's communication, emotional regulation, and connection. 12 bi-weekly live coaching sessions (in-person or virtual) for both the parent and for the child with customized materials, portal access, messaging support, and collaboration with other providers. Designed for homeschooling and microschooling families with kids who big behaviors, lack social and communicaiton skills, struggle with emotional regulation and are resistant to traditional methods such as consquences and punishments. We can meet in person in the West Valley (at libraries, parks or my community center/pool) or online via Zoom.

At Once Upon a Time Literacy Specialists, we provide children with an individualized tutoring experience. Our 50-minute structured literacy sessions include direct, explicit instruction using various multi-sensory activities, all based on where your child falls along the reading continuum. I've been blessed to have been able to use the God given talents in music to play trumpet and auxiliary percussion for 50+ years. I had the privilege to have had opportunities to play in many different settings, professionally and voluntarily with most of my time spent in worship settings at the church my family and I attend.I was the instrumental music director at a private Christian school for 6 years and ran 2 different music schools catering to home school families. I teach Private Music lessons focusing on all brass instruments(trumpet, trombone, tuba, etc.), auxiliary percussion, and young elementary recorder. I teach beginning and intermediate levels on most brass and percussion, and up to advanced level on Trumpet. I will teach private and some mixed groups. I can come to your home school group meetings also to hold lessons. I look forward to serving your families and helping to train up your children in their God given talents.

I'm a software developer with 7 years of experience. I have been an instructor in computer programming at both STEAM Studios AZ and iCode. I've taught robotics and drones, web development, game development, Scratch/Blockly, and 3D Modeling. I can help students learn how to use cloud and AI tools, if that's wanted. I also have the ability to teach enterprise level development using many different types of technologies: cloud services, containerization, container orchestration, software pipeline development, Git or subversion, microservices, databases, logs, and testing. I'm also skilled in cyber security. I worked for a short period of time as a Security Operations Center Analyst, triaging tickets and diagnosing potential threats. I've held a cyber security certification for 8 years. I would be happy to train your child in blue teaming. I individualize my learning plans to suit the needs of the student. Younger children will likely start with Scratch or Blockly, and robotics, so they can see the way programming affects the world around them. Older students will focus on more abstract topics, using what they learn to create websites and other programs. I have access to various hosting services that can help us host a website for free. The most exciting part of teaching is seeing when a struggling student catches on to a topic and excels. As a Christian, I ensure a family friendly environment for my students and can teach them at your home or in a public location in Metro Phoenix. We can discuss availability, but I'm most likely free in the mornings and all day on Saturdays.
