Christian Homeschool Co-ops in Gilbert, Arizona (2026 Guide)

Every active Christian homeschool co-op, classical program, sports club, and support group serving Gilbert and the East Valley, plus how Arizona ESA funds apply.

8 min read · Updated

Gilbert is one of the fastest-growing, most family-heavy cities in Arizona's East Valley, and faith-based homeschool community here runs deep. Families can choose from full academic co-ops, classical Christian programs, Christian sports and enrichment clubs, ESA-friendly drop-off programs, and support groups built around park days and fellowship. Below are the active Christian-emphasis options serving Gilbert.

A quick note before you reach out: every group sets its own membership requirements, statement of faith, dues, and meeting schedule. Confirm current details directly, since leadership and locations can change year to year. The East Valley co-op scene in particular has seen recent rebrands and campus shuffles (see the note on Branches and Steadfast below), so names in older directories may be out of date. Many groups also coordinate primarily through Facebook, so a Facebook search is often the fastest way to reach a current leader.

Academic Co-ops Serving Gilbert

Branches Gilbert

Branches is a long-running, board-run Christian homeschool co-op network with several campuses around the Valley, each meeting one day per week with parent-led academic and enrichment classes, sports, and clubs. A Gilbert campus has been part of that network. Important caveat: the Branches family of co-ops has reorganized recently (the former Branches Chandler and Branches Mesa campuses spun off into independent groups in 2025), and current directory listings are inconsistent about the Gilbert campus's status and meeting location. Confirm directly before relying on it.

  • Type: Co-op
  • Emphasis: Christian
  • Format: Weekly class day, academic and enrichment classes, sports, clubs; parent participation required
  • Website: brancheshomeschool.org
  • Contact: Christine Stauffer, christine@brancheshomeschool.org (verify current Gilbert campus details)

Steadfast Homeschool Community

Formerly Branches Chandler (through May 2025), now independent with the same leadership and members. A true cooperative; not a drop-off program, and new families join full-time. Meets in nearby Chandler and explicitly serves Gilbert families.

  • Type: Co-op
  • Emphasis: Christian (statement of faith)
  • Meets: Mondays, 9:00 AM to 2:10 PM, in Chandler near Price and Ray
  • Serves: Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Mesa, Tempe, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Maricopa
  • Fees: $100/family annual membership, plus $50 per child per semester admin fee
  • Website: steadfasthomeschoolcommunity.org
  • Contact: Jill Knight, jill@steadfastaz.org

Gather at Grace

A Christ-centered East Valley co-op offering enrichment and academic classes, activities, and fellowship. Meets weekly on Wednesdays with events and field trips through the year.

Classical Christian Options

Classical Conversations (East Valley communities)

A national Christ-centered classical homeschool program. Communities meet weekly during the school year, with parents serving as tutors and a licensed director leading each community. Curriculum spans ages 4 through high school within a Christian worldview. Multiple Maricopa County communities serve the East Valley; use the community finder to locate the closest one to Gilbert and confirm its day and location.

Aletheia Christian Academy

A distinctly Christian homeschool program with a classical and Charlotte Mason approach. Worth a look for families who want that specific pedagogy, though enrollment windows fill early (the 2026-2027 year recently closed), so plan ahead.

ESA-Friendly Drop-Off Programs

These aren't parent-led co-ops, but they're popular with Gilbert homeschool families using ESA funds and have local campuses. Note their stance on faith differs from the co-ops above.

Thrive Communities (Gilbert campus)

A one- or two-day-per-week drop-off enrichment program with a Gilbert campus, teaching history, science, art, and literature through a "Classical Remixed" curriculum. Fully ESA-eligible. Notably, Thrive describes itself as a faith-neutral academic environment that leaves faith instruction to parents, so it's not a Christian co-op per se, but many Christian homeschool families use it for academics.

  • Type: Drop-off enrichment program / ESA vendor
  • Emphasis: Faith-neutral (academics only)
  • Meets: 1 or 2 days/week, Gilbert campus (plus Chandler, Mesa, Queen Creek, and others)
  • Grades: K-8 and high school

Christian Sports, Clubs & Enrichment

Gilbert families often build community through subject-specific Christian clubs and sports in addition to (or instead of) a co-op.

Foothills Family Sports (Freestone Park, Gilbert)

A Christian homeschool sports club that meets right in Gilbert at Freestone Park. Parents share teaching responsibility; different sports each month plus a mile run, mom's chats, and seasonal parties. Equipment provided.

  • Type: Christian homeschool sports club
  • Meets: Freestone Park, Gilbert; weekly Tuesday and Thursday, October through April (off in December)
  • Website: ffsaz.org
  • Contact: ffsazinfo@gmail.com

C.O.M.M.A.N.D.

A Christian speech and debate club. The name stands for "Christ On My Mind And Never Departing." Serves Gilbert and the wider East Valley.

  • Type: Club/association
  • Emphasis: Christian
  • Serves: Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Phoenix, Maricopa, San Tan, Queen Creek, Casa Grande
  • Website: commandaz.wordpress.com
  • Contact: Jing Lee, jingflee@yahoo.com

EVAC (East Valley Athletes for Christ)

Forms homeschool sports teams that compete in the Canyon Athletic Association. Athletes must be homeschooled with at least 51% of core subjects taught by a parent; teams start as young as 6th grade.

  • Type: Christian homeschool sports
  • Serves: East Valley, including Gilbert
  • Website: evacsports.org (also on Facebook as "EVAC Eagles")

Support Groups (Park Days, Field Trips, Fellowship)

These don't run weekly academic classes. They're for families who teach core subjects at home but want community and socialization.

Veritas Homeschoolers Support Group

A Christian-led East Valley support group of more than 50 families. Christian leadership and statement of faith, but membership is open to all homeschoolers. Requires homeschooling per Arizona law (A.R.S. 15-802) or under an ESA contract.

  • Type: Independent support group
  • Emphasis: Christian (open membership)
  • Serves: Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek, Ahwatukee
  • Format: Park days (typically first Friday of the month), field trips, member email list (Veri-Talk), youth/PE opportunities
  • Fees: $50/year, or $10 if you volunteer; may be waived for pastor families
  • Website: veritashomeschoolers.org
  • Contact: info@veritashomeschoolers.org

H.E.R.O.

A long-running Christian support group network for the East Valley and beyond.

  • Type: Independent support group (network)
  • Emphasis: Christian
  • Serves: Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Scottsdale, Apache Junction, Queen Creek, Phoenix
  • Format: Email updates on field trips, activities, classes, and park days

Catholic Note

Gilbert has a strong Catholic community (St. Anne Parish has hosted the Arizona Catholic Homeschool Conference, and St. Monica's is a Catholic in-home school/hybrid in Gilbert), but the main traditional Catholic homeschool co-op in the metro (St. Catherine of Siena Homeschool Apostolate) is in Phoenix/Laveen rather than Gilbert. Catholic families in Gilbert often connect through their parish or the annual conference. Confirm current Catholic co-op options through the Diocese of Phoenix.

A Note on Branches and Steadfast

If you're searching older listings, the "Branches" name covers a network of campuses, and two East Valley campuses rebranded in May 2025 while keeping the same leadership and members:

  • Branches Chandler → Steadfast Homeschool Community (Chandler, Mondays; serves Gilbert)
  • Branches Mesa → GRACE Homeschool Community (Mesa, Wednesdays)

Other Branches campuses (Central, North Valley, Southwest, Surprise, West Valley) still operate under the Branches name. The Gilbert campus's current status is the one to verify directly, since directory contact info for it has been inconsistent.

How to Choose

Want a full academic co-op? Steadfast (Mondays, Chandler) explicitly serves Gilbert and is the most clearly documented option; Gather at Grace (Wednesdays) is another East Valley choice. Confirm whether Branches Gilbert is currently running if you want something inside Gilbert itself.

Want classical Christian education? Classical Conversations (find the nearest East Valley community) or Aletheia Christian Academy.

Using ESA and want drop-off convenience? Thrive's Gilbert campus is fully ESA-covered, though it's faith-neutral on academics.

Want sports, speech, or debate? Foothills Family Sports meets right in Gilbert at Freestone Park; EVAC (sports) and C.O.M.M.A.N.D. (speech and debate) serve the wider East Valley.

Want community without a class-day commitment? Veritas and H.E.R.O. center on park days, field trips, and fellowship while you direct your own curriculum.

Want to visit first? Most groups welcome prospective families at a park day or open house. Steadfast brings new families on full-time, and Classical Conversations requires a family interview, so start those conversations early.

ESA Funding Note

If you use an Arizona ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account), co-op tuition, curriculum, and enrichment classes may be eligible expenses depending on the program and how it is structured. Confirm eligibility through your ESA portal and keep itemized receipts. Structured academic co-op fees (Steadfast, Gather at Grace, Branches) and drop-off program tuition (Thrive is fully ESA-covered) are often billable, while support-group dues and informal park-day groups typically are not. Several East Valley programs note that ESA funding has reshaped the local landscape, driving strong demand and earlier registration deadlines, so apply early.
