Veritas Homeschoolers

Veritas Homeschoolers - East Valley, Inc. is a 501c3 Christian homeschool support group which provides opportunities to meet and network with like-minded homeschool families. Our community is spread across the East Valley – from Queen Creek to Ahwatukee, and Mesa/Tempe to Chandler/Gilbert. We have more than 60 families, with kids of all ages and a full range of homeschooling experience represented. We offer monthly park days, field trips, service opportunities and more. PARK DAYS – Typically fall on the first Friday of the month at a local park. These offer homeschooling moms time to relax with friends while their kids play. Occasionally, speakers or a special holiday event or activity are included. Visitors are welcome to attend one Park Day to determine whether or not they wish to join. If you would like to visit, please use contact us to request more information. PICNIC in the PARK – These are held halfway through the month, and are an easy way to take a break from the school day. Most families bring their lunch and a blanket. FIELD TRIPS and SERVICE PROJECTS – Field trips are organized by members and are offered at least once a month, but more often twice. They can be located all over the Valley and beyond. Some examples: Phoenix Herpetological Society tour, MIM, Shamrock farms, Phoenix Zoo or Botanical Garden, a firehouse, MCC Performing Arts Center, etc. While we have an ongoing service project, we offer our members additional opportunities to serve their communities throughout the year. VERI-TALK – In addition to connecting in person at events, members receive support and encouragement through our member only email discussion group, Veri-Talk. It’s a great way to get advice for homeschooling, learn about curriculums, share prayer requests, and get referrals for anything and everything – piano teachers to A/C repair. Members use Veri-talk to share information about the latest homeschool events, book sales, or to schedule impromptu meetups and playdates. Veri-talk also provides members with a network of veteran homeschoolers who have graduated their kids and know the ins and outs of the high school to college/trades/life transition, and who are willing to answer questions and share their own experiences. SERVING – Veritas is a volunteer-led organization which relies on its members to lead, organize, and coordinate activities and administrative responsibilities. While this changes what we offer from year to year, it also produces dynamic opportunities. Volunteering is a requirement of membership.

San Tan Valley sits at the southeast edge of metro Phoenix and has grown faster than almost any Arizona community over the last decade. The homeschool community has grown with it — though most weekly academic co-ops still meet a short drive west in Queen Creek, Gilbert, Chandler, or Mesa. Christian support groups, sports leagues, and ESA-friendly drop-off programs are more readily available closer to home.

A quick note before you reach out: every group sets its own membership requirements, statement of faith, dues, and meeting schedule. Confirm current details directly, since leadership and locations shift year to year. A few well-known East Valley co-ops recently rebranded (see the note on Branches and Steadfast below), so names in older directories may be out of date. Many local groups also organize primarily through Facebook.

Not parent-led co-ops, but the most convenient part-time option for San Tan Valley families using ESA funds.

Thrive Communities (Queen Creek Campus)

A one- or two-day-per-week drop-off enrichment program with a Queen Creek campus — the closest ESA drop-off option to San Tan Valley. Teaches history, science, art, and literature through a "Classical Remixed" curriculum. Fully ESA-eligible. Thrive is a faith-neutral academic environment that leaves faith instruction to parents.

  • Type: Drop-off enrichment program / ESA vendor

A long-running Christian support group network serving Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, and the broader East Valley with field trips, activities, and park days.

A Note on Branches and Steadfast

If you're searching older listings, the "Branches" name covers a network of campuses. Two East Valley campuses rebranded in May 2025 while keeping the same leadership and members:

  • Branches Chandler → Steadfast Homeschool Community (Chandler, Mondays; serves San Tan Valley)
  • Branches Mesa → GRACE Homeschool Community (Mesa, Wednesdays)

How to Choose

Want a full academic co-op? Steadfast (Mondays, Chandler) is the closest structured Christian co-op that explicitly serves San Tan Valley. GRACE (Wednesdays, Mesa) and Gather at Grace (Wednesdays) are the next closest.

Want classical Christian education? Classical Conversations — use their community finder for the nearest East Valley campus.

Using ESA and want drop-off convenience? Thrive's Queen Creek campus is fully ESA-covered and only minutes from most San Tan Valley neighborhoods.

Want sports, speech, or debate? EVAC (sports) and C.O.M.M.A.N.D. (speech and debate) serve San Tan Valley directly.

Want community without a class-day commitment? Veritas and H.E.R.O. center on park days, field trips, and fellowship while you direct your own curriculum.

ESA Funding Note

If you use an Arizona ESA, structured academic co-op tuition (Steadfast, GRACE, Gather at Grace) and drop-off tuition (Thrive is fully ESA-covered) are often billable through ClassWallet depending on how the program is registered. Support-group dues and informal park-day groups typically are not. Confirm through your ESA portal and keep itemized receipts.
